Volunteers help sort hundreds of bags of donations from the annual Hobart Kiwanis and Hobart Food Pantry community wide food drive.

Saturday, Oct. 5 is the annual Community Wide Food Drive sponsored by the Hobart Kiwanis and their partner the Hobart Food Pantry. The opportunity to give continues through October 12 with donation drop-off locations at both Strack and Van Til locations in Hobart.

The weekly food distribution at the Food Pantry to those in need in Hobart has increased from 80 families to 150 families and 50 Senior Citizens so your donations are essential for making a difference for our neighbors in need.

This Food Drive will stock the shelves of the Food Pantry for the Holiday Season and now is the time to make donations to make sure there is enough for the holidays.

The Hobart Food Pantry is unique in the State of Indiana because their clients who are in need of food are able to visit the pantry on a weekly basis unlike most communities in the State of Indiana that only enable their clients to visit once per month.

If you forgot to set your bag out for pickup Saturday morning or if you would like to make a donation, please drop off food items at the Hobart Food Pantry – 200 S Hobart Rd., Highway 130, Hobart, Indiana 46342.

You may also make donations at both Strack and Van Til locations through October 12 at 7760 East Ridge Road or 999 Old Ridge Road.

You can call the Hobart Food Pantry at 219-7779 to learn more information about how you can help and monetary donations can be sent to the Hobart Food Pantry – P.O. Box 394, Hobart, IN 46342.

John Brezik, current City Councilman for the 5th District in Hobart says, “It’s always a great to see people throughout the 5th District and throughout the City placing bags of donations on their front steps for this annual event. It’s an honor to represent so many compassionate people in the 5th District as Councilman and a proud day in the City of Hobart when we come together like this to help one another.”

Thank you to all the organizers at the Hobart Kiwanis, the volunteers at the Hobart Food Pantry, all the volunteer driving and sorting, high school students, and residents from throughout the city and all the residents throughout the 5th District. Your generosity is what makes Hobart such a special place to live. We care about our neighbors and always go the extra mile to help those in need.
