Work started on a $4 million initiative to eliminate a city lift station at 701 N. Wisconsin St. in the city’s 5th District. The project increases sewer capacity in that area and the added capacity brings opportunities for growth in the city. Removing the lift station and connecting to the city’s existing gravity system will provide savings because gravity sewers have lower operating and maintenance costs than lift stations.
The project is part of a larger $15.5 million bond issue funding the work in City Councilman John Brezik’s 5th District and several other major sanitary sewer and stormwater projects in Hobart.
